A vintage watch as a gift: birthdays, Christmas, a year worth remembering

A vintage watch works as a gift for two concrete reasons: only one of each exists, and it can carry a date that means something. In today's selection there are 69 pieces, from 225 to 1045 euros, with a median of 325. If you are after a particular year and we do not have it, we look for it: the search costs 30 euros, deducted from the price of the watch when you buy it.

A year that counts, not only a birth year

A birth year is the first that comes to mind, but it is rarely the best one. A wedding year works just as well, or a graduation, a move to another city, the year two people met. A watch from that year is a gift that explains itself in one sentence and gets worn every day.

On the homepage there is a field for the year: if we have a piece datable to it, the watch appears right away. If not, you can ask for a search from there.

Choosing without knowing their wrist

This is the real obstacle with a watch as a gift, and it can be worked around. Three routes, from the safest to the riskiest.

  • Leather strap. Adjusted by the holes, forgiving of almost any size, and the calmest choice for a gift. In today's selection there are 6 models on a strap.
  • Link bracelet. Shortened by removing links, and it can be done afterwards: a watchmaker and ten minutes. It cannot be lengthened, so it is wise to stay on the more generous sizes.
  • Rigid bangle. Beautiful to look at and the hardest to give: a circle of fixed size that cannot be tightened, and if it is too wide it turns on the wrist. Of the 69 available pieces, 23 are rigid bangles. Choose one only if you know the wrist.

All available watches

One trick that works: measure a watch or a bracelet the person already wears and tell us that number. We help choose model and size free of charge.

When to order

Shipping leaves within 3 working days of payment, by DHL, tracked and insured, and orders can be completed online to every European Union country. A search on request takes longer: it depends on when the right piece appears, not on us. For a Christmas gift it is worth asking weeks ahead, not days.

One thing to know in advance: returns run for 14 days from delivery, not from the day the parcel is opened. If you buy well before the date, that window may already have closed by the time the gift is unwrapped. This is why we would rather help you choose the size before you buy: write to us, it costs nothing.

What arrives

Every watch goes through a check and servicing before sale: movement revision, battery change, cleaning. It arrives in protective packaging, with a record of the work carried out. Of 69 available pieces, 24 come with the original box and 14 with box and papers.

Quick answers

Can you give a watch from someone's birth year?

Yes. On the homepage there is a field for the year: if we have a piece datable to it, it appears right away. If not, we look for it: the search costs 30 euros, deducted from the price of the watch when you buy it.

And if the size is wrong?

A link bracelet can be shortened by any watchmaker, and a leather strap is adjusted by the holes. A rigid bangle cannot: that one has to be the right size from the start. Write to us before buying and we will help you choose, free of charge. Returns remain possible within 14 days of delivery.

How far ahead should you order for Christmas?

If the watch is already in the catalogue, shipping leaves within 3 working days of payment. If it has to be sourced, it takes weeks: it depends on when the right piece turns up. For a gift with a fixed date, ask well in advance.

Can you set a maximum budget?

Yes. The search form has a field for an approximate budget: we look within that figure and send photographs and a precise description of the condition before any commitment.
